SO there is some of the recap...I'll be back to share more!Katrina @ Pics, Pages & Purlshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02245863945689175120noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3587437700232781019.post-25254356468567196542014-10-17T08:32:00.000-04:002014-10-17T08:32:48.729-04:00The thing I dislike most...Promises aren't being kept. This time it's ME who is making me upset. I wanted to write more on here in the year 2014...and I have really NOTHING to show for it.
However my kids are happy and my house is more in order and I've been knitting wonderful items so that has kept me busy.

Right now I'll give you a little update on my wonderful family.
Rick (my husband) is in his 3rd year of Residency, when he is done in June 2016 he will have a duel degree in Family Practice Medicine and Neuromusclar Medicine. Which means he can go and teach at a DO Medical School at some point in his career..PLUS that makes him more competitive for a job. WHICH he already has for when he is done. We are heading to Wisconsin after this. We are excited and ready for the journey and I know the hospital/clinic is going to be a perfect fit for him...AND with time the town will be a perfect fit for our family!
Zeke (my now 6 year old Autistic boy) is doing great in school. He is in the same school as last year, in the same classroom, with the same teacher and a lot of the same paraprofessionals and classmates. He has settled down earlier...although homework nightly is not always fun for him...or me. He is progressing in his speech and he tries to say the words we are saying. He is also working on those social components that come naturally in other kids, saying Hello, Good Morning, Thank you, Bye...He is a boy though too...he likes to play with his cars, ride his bike, climb trees, go swimming, loves being outside in nature...he also loves his instruments. (Which is sometimes on the "loud" end of things)
Aspen (my SOON to be 4 year old girl) is loving her preschool. She greets the teachers with great joy and love! It's amazing that she is that excited! She goes Wednesday morning through Friday morning...She LOVES the time away from me I think too. And I love being able to be kid free for 3 mornings of my week. She is coming along in her speech too...but she will be getting evaluated soon. There are somethings that she mispronounces and letter sounds she hasn't quite got a hold of yet.
I have been busy keeping up with 2 kids, making up meals for our dinners as well as making up a plan for Freezer meals for later on this winter, I've also been trying to keep up with main area of the living area organized and clean which is nice to walk in and not see TONS of clutter everywhere. I just need to work on my crafting nook area (where I have the sewing machine that I haven't really worked for a while and my yarn) Sometimes the kids rooms look tornadoes have gone through them, sometimes our bedroom is not organized...but we just close doors when people are here...I mean who doesn't do that! After taking off the summer of knitting and creating...I'm back at it and I'm SO happy to be back.
Who knows when the last time I'll be here...hopefully sooner rather than later. After all I like to write about those mundane things in my life. Cause I know I don't get my words out otherwise, I mean I get words out when chatting with kids...but those are not what is that deep part of my heart. I love the conversations I have with my kids...but they aren't really always deep (after all they are only 6 and almost 4)Katrina @ Pics, Pages & Purlshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02245863945689175120noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3587437700232781019.post-23700382392407600822014-01-08T09:00:00.000-05:002014-01-08T09:00:07.047-05:00Wordfilled Wednesday! So today I have my bible study with a couple ladies. So on Tuesday night...I usually listen to worship music and get my Bible Study done. SO I was listening to Passion's Music from 2013. And it came to this song...
Do you know what? It's gonna feel good to talk with you this year. Along with doing the different items for my own health and family...I'm making a goal to write more with you! I'm NOT going to bore you with my goals. BUT please know that I'm planning on writing more.
I have my new calendar, a new set of pens, a new journal and some note cards. SO I'm set for hitting the new year. :)

Here are a couple things I'm looking forward to in the year 2014!
~ I'm doing a pen pal with http://whitepeachblog.com/ so I will be doing a little note for my person as well as a little gift every month.
~ I'm excited to see Z-man progress...he has already progressed so much in a couple months of school.
~ I'm excited to read some new books this year...and actually do my thoughts on them here! I already have a list to do.
~ I'm ready to get my health in proper order. Drinking more water, eating cleaner food, more veggies and fruit, move more, etc.
~ I'm excited to see Colorado again in March! AND hoping to meet NEW friends!
~ I'm excited to see how much my daughter will learn and grow!
What are some goals that you have to look forward to this year? Katrina @ Pics, Pages & Purlshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02245863945689175120noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3587437700232781019.post-80082387502047434972013-12-31T15:51:00.000-05:002013-12-31T15:52:18.077-05:00Lookin' back on 2013...So I'm sorry I haven't been around much in 2013. BUT here is my way of doing a family newsletter.

January -- Was a time of checking in with Z-Man's Neuro doctor to see if there was anything wrong with that. We did the MRI and routine blood work and all the prelim stuff to try to figure out what was going on his little mind and what was going on. We also had Grandpa Tom & Grandma Jean come all the way from Colorado to visit us. We went to Sea World, a light house and just had fun with them while they were here.

February -- My hubby and I just went to Sea World together on a date. We road the rides there, sat towards the front of the shows, Dined with Shamu, we just had fun...it was a great date!

March -- Rick survived one of his tests, we had a good Easter and a good Spring Break.

April -- We have a diagnosis for Z-Man and his lack of communication and social skills...He now has ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) and now that we know...we feel better prepared and we think we can figure out how to help him better.

May -- We tried to figure out where we needed to be in far of a school district, if we needed to move, if we needed to stay put, all the questions to "life". We even went on a Residency retreat and had fun with this wonderful view.

June -- We decided to move and are renting a nice house from a former Resident in Rick's program. Rick's parents came out to spend some time with us and sell us their car! We have no more school and we are just trying figure out what Vacation Bible School's to attend this summer.

July -- Getting moved out of the old place and into the new place...wild ride but we love our new place!

August -- lots of birthdays and anniversaries to celebrate, getting things adjusted to the new place, figuring out school for Z-Man

September -- Getting into the routine of Z-Man in school (a lot of the time A-girl and I spent it in the car as we dropped him off at school and picked him up)

October -- Another full month of birthdays to celebrate! Getting Z-man's new IEP (Individualized Education Plan) figured out and adding bus to it, so Aspen doesn't have to spend a long time in the car. We even went to Gatorland.

November -- Did the what am I thankful for this month with photos on my Instagram. Gearing up for the holidays but first Thanksgiving at our house.

December -- Rick finished off a "harder" rotation at the beginning of the month, then we settled down to get Christmas stuff ready for Z-Man's teachers, family members and friends at church. We did have our first time of going Strawberry Pickin' on Christmas Eve. We actually went to Sea World 2 or 3 times...
Left seems like it's the same old same old...Such as my day usually holds these items.

~ Make sure the kids are up and fed (they usually always get up on their own)
~ Get Z-Man on the bus for his day of school
~ Spend time with A-Girl as she is the only one home with me...occasionally do a little shopping with her. (Like grocery or craft shopping)
~ Some Tuesdays I have a Bible Study I go to along with A-Girl
~ Get Z-Man off the bus
~ Get the kids lunch
~ Wrangle the kids for a while; either go to the park, watch a movie, maybe even go to the pool (the water is still pretty cool)
~ Get A-girl down for a nap and try to get some "down-time" with Z-Man.
~ Get dinner ready and feed the kids
~ Have fun with the kids
~ Get the kids ready for bed, tuck them in and clean up the tornado left behind by said kids.

My wonderful hubby, is an intern at a hospital. SO his schedule is changing every 2 or 4 weeks. Some of his rotations are better than others...and he is home at dinner, sometimes he is home during the day but gone during nights, sometimes he has the weekend off, sometimes he's working for 24 hours straight, sometimes he has a day off during the week, on and on I could go.

I'm very lucky, I have been having a great start of my business. I basically feed my hobby of knitting and even sewing. You can always ask questions about it here OR find me on Facebook -- business page is called Rapped with Luv.

I'm hoping to get back to writing more on here. I need to process things a little more. BUT for now. I'm going to leave you. Katrina @ Pics, Pages & Purlshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02245863945689175120noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3587437700232781019.post-30740872557273920752012-10-29T22:01:00.002-04:002012-10-29T22:01:30.432-04:00Scarf Swap!

I'm excited about this. I'm joining Karen over at Celebrate Life in a Scarf Swap. I'm wanting to share this opportunity with you. If you like to either create or give...You should totally check it out!

Sorry I haven't been on here often. I'm hoping to be back soon. I've gotta get back to knitting though right now. Katrina @ Pics, Pages & Purlshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02245863945689175120noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3587437700232781019.post-55982033571397467132012-10-09T23:04:00.001-04:002012-10-09T23:04:12.421-04:00Finding a new normal...Since we have been here for a while, we are trying to find a new normal. If normal can happen to a family of four with the dad (who is on his 2 weeks on night shift), a 4 year old who is in school and very excited to see me go and very excited to see me get him (we have his new Florida IEP to get new goals for the year; and we have already seen improvement with him since he's been in school) and a little girlie who is almost 2...YIKES my baby is almost 2!
So...Rick is doing well with his internship, however he could use some prayers on Thursday (he's taking an exam that is to let him know what he needs to work on subjects) Especially because he is doing nights.
Zeke is what feels like learning in leaps and bounds, not really saying more words, but recognizing letters and practicing saying them. We picked him up from Sunday School and there were all these H's on them...can you guess what letter he's learning in school? H's. We pulled up to a stop sign and Zeke in his seat say "S, T, O" and then there was a break he was waiting for me to tell him what the last letter was...I told him and then he repeated "P" Then we came to another sign and he said all four letters.
Aspen is a growing little pixie. She loves watching Tinker-Bell while playing with cars. Her favorite animal is a giraffe. She has a collection! She is going to be a "fly" short for Butterfly for her party. I'm still looking for a Mom's Day Out that I can take her to for a couple hours so she can get a couple time to play with friends her age.
I'm working on getting my handmade knitting store Rapped with Luv. I'm going to try to make this blog Pics, Pages & Purls for my personal pictures, my preferences on reading and my personal knitting projects. BUT I still want to let you all know about my store. You can find me on Facebook; https://www.facebook.com/pages/Rapped-with-Luv/281119998839?ref=hl. I put the giveaways I'm in there as well as promo codes for percentage off my merchandise. So please "like" my page. :) IF you would like to go order hats I have a store http://rappedwithluv.storenvy.com/
SO I think that is it for right now...I forgot how much I love blogging. I'm hoping that I will be back to blog tomorrow.
Sorry there are no pictures. I'm needing to get back to knitting. Katrina @ Pics, Pages & Purlshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02245863945689175120noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3587437700232781019.post-62644587012116741612012-08-28T11:52:00.000-04:002012-08-28T11:52:10.031-04:00Rapped with Luv is apart of a giveaway! So in the last post I mentioned about myself opening up a business page on facebook. I'm hoping to get one set up on etsy here pretty soon.
SO if you are on facebook and you are not a fan of my facebook page...PLEASE like me! All you have to look up is @Rapped with Luv. Please and THANK you!
So I'm part of a giveaway it's on a page called Boomer Beanies...there are so many great vendors who are donating either patterns or finished items. You actually have to enter through her blog actually...here is the link for that http://boomerbeanies.blogspot.com/2012/08/boomer-beanies-5000-fan-giveaway-this.html and you enter through the rafflecoopter widget. :) Since it started my fan page has jumped up almost 200 fans. Which is very nice for me...and hopefully someone will want to order something through me in the future. :)
Well...that is all I wanted to say. Let me know if you have ANY questions! I hope to be back to blog sometime soon.

Katrina @ Pics, Pages & Purlshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02245863945689175120noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3587437700232781019.post-9021806289526022072012-08-24T11:09:00.003-04:002012-08-24T11:09:39.348-04:00Sorry I have been away...So I don't want to fill this blog with excuses why I'm not blogging...
BUT I do have a couple of newsflashes about me during this time.
I've joined some other vendors on facebook and we have a Multi-Vendor Ready to Ship sale twice a month...mine is actually today. SO please find my facebook page Rapped with Luv so you can find out more details about it. It actually starts tonight (the 24th) at 8 pm EST.
Today we are actually taking Ezekiel in for an EEG...one where we put him back to sleep so we can see what his brain activity is during his sleep. The Neurologist is the one who wants this done and she also said that she has no reason to believe that we need to do any other testing in regards to Autism or anything like that. So that is good. His EEG is at 2 today...and he went to bed 2 hours later than normal and woke up 2 hours earlier than normal.
We are slowly getting settled down in the condo. Aspen is sleeping in a big girl bed in the same room as her big brother. We still have boxes to go through...ones that have clothes for a little bit cooler weather and some that have books in. But generally we are settled. Rick is finishing up his Surgery rotation. His next 2 weeks should be fairly busy...but I'm really liking his schedule...he has been home almost every Sunday (all except one) and he usually is done in the afternoon on Saturday. We are church shopping which is ok, I know this is good for us to figure out what church is right for us and not jump in right away. But we have an idea of the one we want to go to...and we only have a couple other churches to go to.
As you read from before...I'm trying to get my Rapped with Luv business going...where I primarily do knitted items and sometimes other handmade gifts. :) Would love more people following me on facebook if you haven't already. I will be getting my etsy shop up and running by the end of the month! So I'm excited about that!
Sorry there are no pictures...and I'm hoping to be getting back into blogging (reading and writing) again.
Thanks for reading...Katrina @ Pics, Pages & Purlshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02245863945689175120noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3587437700232781019.post-2637676181097805082012-06-07T10:54:00.000-04:002012-06-07T10:54:00.130-04:00Zeke's First Year of Preschool

We were so blessed by Zeke's first year of Preschool. He had 3 great
teachers and a great speech pathologist that worked with him 4 mornings a
week. Here is a picture of him with his teachers the last day of
school. Lead teacher, Ms Michelle on the left, Ms Logan holding Zeke and Ms Donna on the right.

We have been given all the information we need to get him into a good
school down here in Florida. Such as his IEP (Individualized Education
Program), his PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) (which is the next picture) and a folder
with what he has done this year at school (which is the next picture in the yellow folder).

We are slowly trying to get into a routine here and checking out local library class times or other classes that we could go to. That way we can get out of the house and into a routine of learning and fun.

We are waiting until the insurance kicks in to go ahead and get Zeke tested to find out if he is or is not on the Autistic Spectrum or if he just has some major communication delays. That will then help us out getting into some programs that will help us. But we did find out they had a cool program where they the student has and IEP (which he does) he can get into the program for free. So that is pretty cool. I'll keep you updated on that.

I ended up making these little monsters (picture below) for his 3 teachers as well as his speech pathologist. I put them in little baskets, with dark chocolate bars, tea bags, popcorn and some other goodies. I'm really going to miss his teachers...they helped make the school year not only good for Zeke but good for me.

Right now Zeke is loving Nonna and Gramps' pool. He has a little star floatation device and he loves to go in there and get some water balloons and hold on to them. If only we could get him sleeping all the way through the night and not coming in mama and daddy's bed partially in the morning. But I think that is what happens when we end up all being in the same room. Or sleep schedule gets CRAZY!!!

Well until next time...which should be pretty soon. :)

Katrina @ Pics, Pages & Purlshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02245863945689175120noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3587437700232781019.post-39876328385459986772012-06-06T15:40:00.000-04:002012-06-06T15:40:46.689-04:00I'm married to a doctor!?!?!It feels weird to call Rick a doctor...but he is. I'm so excited and relieved that we made it through Medical School. Well...who am I kidding I'm SO glad I didn't have to take the exams and make it through Medical School...but me supporting my husband through it all was enough of Medical School for me. Which is hard enough supporting someone through it.
So Graduation week is a bit crazy...like I mentioned in my previous post. So here it is a little bit in picture format.

The first three pictures are of the OMM Fellow Dinner. 1) is a picture of the OMM Graduating Fellows, the OMM Doctors and Lacey who is the Secretary or Communication Personal of the OMM department. 2) Is the four graduating OMM Fellows. 3) is a picture of all the OMM Fellows that were present at the dinner.

This next picture is of SOS (Significant Others' Support) graduating class. There were 4 or 5 not present...but I don't think I could of made it through Medical School without my friends and involvement in SOS.

So it was a little crazy at least I thought it was with the move so close. I don't think we would of moved that close to his Graduation, if we weren't blessed by house sitting for a couple who was anxiously waiting to get back into their house. So we are very thankful for them and wanted them to have their house back.

Alright...on to the next blog!
~ Packing and stuff for our move from Iowa to Florida
~ Hanging out with friends in Iowa before we moved
~ Graduation week and weekend
~ Driving from Iowa to Florida
~ Trying to get settled at my parents house

BUT now I will try to blog a little. We ended up selling a bulk of our stuff so we didn't have to get a really big trailer to move stuff. But we ended up donating a lot of our winter clothes and clothes that the kids have out grown to Hope Ministries. So we were able to scale down a lot of our stuff.

We ended up hanging out with a lot of our friends before we left. Which was really good. The only thing that I wanted to do, but didn't get a chance was seeing the Iowa Cubs. All well such is life.

Graduation week is PACKED! On Wednesday, was the OMM Fellow dinner. On Thursday, was my SOS graduation and Rick's parents came in so we ate dinner with them. On Friday, Rick had stuff on the DMU campus in the morning and Zeke had his last day of preschool. For lunch we had our last DMU picnic, with Rick's parents and older sister. Rick and I were able to go on a date that night (we were suppose to go to the Banquet...but we didn't want to get all fancied up). On Saturday, it was GRADUATION! We now have a Doctor in the house! Out to lunch with the family. Kids took naps, and we should of packed forever and ever...BUT we didn't want to. Out to dinner with the family. To bed and we should of packed forever and ever and we did...but we didn't get it all packed up. On Sunday, we went to church and then we packed the rest of everything with the help of our family. LOTS of HELP from our family...and starting the trek to Florida.

Driving from Iowa to Florida we drove over 1,300 miles and entered 6 state lines. We ended up staying past St. Louis the first night and then able to stop again after we got past Atlanta the second night. Made it to my parents house on Tuesday.

Right now at my parents house we have my Grandparents here, Caroline and Colton and my parents (it's there house after all) and Becca and Bryleigh (after all they live here with my parents) Along with my family of four...it's a packed house! So we are trying to get settled but we are making good use of the pool. So that is always good.

OK...right now I'm tired. I'm sorry there are no pictures in this post...but I'll try to post tomorrow about something. :)Katrina @ Pics, Pages & Purlshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02245863945689175120noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3587437700232781019.post-68113810737272342392012-05-16T11:15:00.000-04:002012-05-16T11:15:34.415-04:00sorry...I'm sorry for not being on the blog very often. There is a lot of transitions that is going on the Rapp household and I decided that blogging was not a thing that was very important at the time.
This has been what is going on...
Organizing, Packing, Cleaning, Selling our stuff we don't need, Donating the stuff we didn't sell, for our upcoming move to Florida.
Keeping up with 2 growing children; Zeke still goes to preschool 4 days a week in the morning. Aspen was sick for a little bit but seems to be feeling better now.
Trying to figure out what is causing a lot of pain in my joints, fingers, wrists, elbows, knees, etc. It's been so bad I have done any knitting since Friday of last week.
Here's what's next to come in the Rapp family...
Rick's last day of rotations is Thursday.
First and last trip to the Downtown Des Moines Farmer's Market on Saturday.
Next Wednesday I have an eye doctor appointment to see if something is wrong there that they could diagnose me with something.
Next Wednesday is the OMM Fellowship Dinner and we got a babysitter for the kids...so it's sort of like a celebration #1 for us.
Next Thursday afternoon is my SOS Graduation as well as Rick's parents come in for Graduation. Get to spend the evening with them...Hopefully EVERYTHING will be packed except our clothes that we will need while we are still in Des Moines and our traveling down to Florida.
Next Friday, Rick has a bunch of stuff at DMU to get finished. It's Zeke's last day of Preschool. We have a Picnic lunch at school with all the other graduating people. That evening we have a Graduation banquet...Rick's Parents and Sister (who flies in earlier that day) will watch the kids.
Rick graduates from Des Moines University on Saturday, May 26th. So we are excited about that...we will go out that afternoon and just spend time with family afterwards.
Next Sunday we will go to Gateway Church for one last time and have lunch and then head down to Florida.

Well...I should go, I'm sorry no pictures. My hands, fingers, wrists and stuff are hurting to much right now...so I think I over did it.
God Bless!Katrina @ Pics, Pages & Purlshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02245863945689175120noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3587437700232781019.post-29523372393466030522012-04-26T11:14:00.002-04:002012-04-26T11:14:58.095-04:00Sunday of Fun!Sunday we had a wonderful day here in Colorado...with Rick, Tom, Jean, Zeke and Aspen.
We wanted to visit some from friends from Christ Community Church in Greeley...it's where we used to go to church when we lived in Greeley. However we wanted to check out the new (well new to us) addition to the church it's called Zoe's. Check it out here... We enjoyed it and the kids had a good time in there little classes too. We even got to see our dear friends Phil and Nicole and decided to get together for dinner the week afterwards.
Then we went to eat lunch.
Then we went off to the mountains. We originally just talked about going
to Estes Park and into Rocky Mountain National Park. However Rick
wanted to take me to the place where he proposed to me to. Here are some
of the pictures from our Sunday. From the proposal place to Rocky
Mountain National Park, Zeke fell asleep. So we hardly have any pics of
him. Here are the pictures from our Sunday...
Wednesday: Rick drove himself down and back...the kids and I just hung out at the house, watching some kid shows, doing some letter work, playing outside with sidewalk chalk and bubbles.
Thursday: I drove Rick down to the clinic. The kids and I hung at the
house for the morning and then had our lunch in the car and went to the
Downtown Aquarium and then afterwards picked up Rick and drove back to
the house. Pictures below from me and kiddos field trip.
Friday: I drove Rick down and headed back to the house with the kids.
Grandpa Tom & Grandma Jean got off early and we picked up Rick
and then headed down to Colorado Springs to watch the Sky Sox game and
fireworks. (Sorry no pictures...brought the camera but didn't take it
out of the bag)
Today: Rick, Jean, the kids and I went to the
Denver Zoo...had a blast! It's a lot of fun to be with family and enjoy
memories together.
I'm looking forward to tomorrow...I think I will do a post all on it's own! And I'm going to leave you on your toes to figure out what we will be doing! :)Katrina @ Pics, Pages & Purlshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02245863945689175120noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3587437700232781019.post-10083873493412629692012-04-11T20:16:00.000-04:002012-04-11T20:19:31.509-04:00Odds-n-Ends WednesdaySo I figured this was an easy title...to fill in with odds and ends that I have been up to.
Wednesdays are days that Ezekiel doesn't have preschool. Usually we try to go to a park or a mall play place with the ladies from church. However, I recently read that Hand, Foot & Mouth is going around...SO we are having a movie Wednesday.
I have decided to go through my yarn stash and take pictures and put them all in my ravelry stash. So my poor laptop is working over time. I also have yarn that I have NO clue what the brand name is anymore. I know what it is made of and such...but those can't be added to the stash.
My knitting projects are as follow...I finished a cute little shrug for Aspen to wear on Easter. SO easy! The pattern is HERE. I really enjoyed it...PLUS it's FREE! I'm working on my Ruffle Sweater. I'm hoping to bring that with me to Colorado and get it DONE! Especially if I don't bring anything else for me to do...but you know me I won't do that and I'll bring another project or two. ;)

I mentioned last time that I'm part of a quilting ministry at church. We were suppose to do strips for the quilt. Where we piece 12 blocks. The blocks are all 10 inches...so I just pressed all of the blocks and put them gently in the bag, shuffled pulled two out and sewed them together...then pressed and did the exact same thing over again. Then pressed and figured out how I should put the remaining join them all together. I think my strip turned out rather well and it was so very easy! :) Especially for this beginner quilter. Take a look at my strip...
I've also been helping an etsy shop called Handmade for Hope, you can check it out here. ALL the proceeds go to Enlace, an organization working to bring sustainable living to
communities in El Salvador. Your purchase will help bring hope to
someone in need of clean water, food and shelter. 100% of sales from
this shop go directly to this cause. Please visit www.enlaceonline.org
to find out more. So I'm making camera straps for it. She usually has key ring holders...I know I bought one for my mom and my two sisters this year for Christmas. So hopefully we will be able to stock up the store and get money for Enlace!
With the Easter Season passing...I helped out with 2 different Egg
Hunts. One at Des Moines University (the significant other's group put's
it together) and there I took pictures of the Easter bunny with the
kiddos and families. The other one was downtown Des Moines, called Eggs,
Eggs Everywhere and that one was put on by our church, The Gateway
Church. I registered people and then made people feel welcome and
answered any questions they had. We also had a great Easter dinner at
out house and it tasted SO lovely. It was even nice enough to dye eggs
in the back table outside.
After today is down it will be 8 days that Rick has been in Florida searching for a place for us to stay when we move there, he's been there on a rotation (a very relaxed rotation), he's been with my family, and he's been working on a project for a doctor. He comes back this week! On Friday! I'm so excited!!!
I have done some awesome stuff.
On Friday, I hosted the SOS craft club. We made these ribbon message
boards. The ladies brought their own fabric and ribbon...and I provided
the rest for a minimal cost. Which is a board, quilt batting and
embroider tacks. Later that evening, I got the ability to see The Brilliance and Gungor
in concert at the beautiful Hoyt Sherman Place. I sold some merchandise
SO I was able to get in FREE! So that was pretty awesome. I also took
my new camera so I was able to take some pictures. However I didn't use
my flash...so some are a little dark. So I'm only posting my favorites.
They did these signs and walked us through the themes of the songs of the concert. Seeing that I love to create...these ones spoke to me!

On Saturday, the kids and I took our time to get up and ready. We spent time outside and both kids took naps at the SAME time! I was able to clean out the car, knit and read! From Wednesday night to Saturday night our family hosted an incoming Des Moines University family (he's an incoming student in the fall and she will be a very supportive spouse!) So they stayed at the house with us and they wanted to take us out to dinner. So we went to Mustards for some BBQ. They then got on the road after that and they are SO full of information for what place for them to stay at when they get here in Des Moines. After the kids and I got back home, we watched The Ohio State Buckeyes win! We are in the Final Four! YAHOO! Then it was bath time and bed time. I was able to decompress from having people here and gearing up for a new week.
Today...the kids and I went to church. I truly love the church we go to and that is going to be bittersweet about leaving Des Moines. Aspen is napping. Zeke and I are watching the race right now. I'm of course blogging but knitting is on deck ready to go. I'm also working on the laundry...I must get down there and switch the loads. This is what is on deck for the week...
Zeke back to school on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday morning.
Blank Park Zoo on Friday with some friends from church after we pick Zeke up at school and before we pick up Rick from the airport.
Playing outside in the back yard.
Amongst other things...just don't have anything set up yet.Katrina @ Pics, Pages & Purlshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02245863945689175120noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3587437700232781019.post-8454614499833210382012-03-23T00:22:00.002-04:002012-03-23T00:23:22.473-04:00yes......I've made it to 5!
Today we got out of the house and went to a mall play area. As well as to a place to get our Iowa Food Co-op. Because I LOVE to buy LOCAL!
On the way home, Zeke fell asleep and then slept for a little bit...it took me 3 times waking him up. Because we were out in the afternoon poor Aspen didn't get to take her nap and she was in bed sleeping by 7:30.
I really should get to bed...SO I will!
Please pray for Rick as he is finding us a place to live when we move down to Florida. Thank you SO much!Katrina @ Pics, Pages & Purlshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02245863945689175120noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3587437700232781019.post-14602110516619484022012-03-22T01:12:00.000-04:002012-03-22T01:12:03.868-04:00Now we have 44 days with being a "solo" mama. I love my wonderful kiddos. Let me tell you a little bit about what I did today...
Well the weather was off and on rain, the sun did try to peek through just a little bit, I enjoy the smell of the rain so with the windows open and every now and then the breeze comes in...the smell is what I think Heaven should smell like. :)
Aspen has been getting to the point of feeling better. She slept in past 8 this morning. She took one nap that was over four and half hours long. She LOVES her tea pot with her cup and will either carry those around to share a cup of tea with me OR she will carry around a book called the 10 Little Ladybugs. She is TOTALLY a girl though and will find anything that looks like a phone and then say "hello" in her cute little voice. I'm very thankful that she is getting better. It was so sad to see her not feeling well and doing saline and suction with her is not her favorite thing...AT ALL so I'm happy to be done with that!
Ezekiel has been very well at sleeping in to 7 this morning...which I'm thinking is WONDERFUL (he usually wakes up earlier than that and I'm happy about that) He is loving the wonderful ability of hanging out with me when Aspen is napping. He says hi and even waves at the birds or squirrels that come by. It's quite funny. He is now saying hi and bye to people when they come to the house or even leave. So that is good. We have been playing with cars, chuggers, building towers, reading books, playing with bubbles, coloring, etc...it's been loads of fun. He also loves putting on his clothes (as well as taking them off) OVER and OVER!
I have been sewing together a camera strap...for my Digital SLR. I've started working on some little knitted ruffle hats for the 2 littlest girls that were brought into our church family.
I'm sorry there are no pictures...it's been a interesting days but not really for pictures.
We have also been enjoying the rainfall and the fresh spring air that it brings.

Hope you have a fantastic Tuesday and see you tomorrow! What should I post about???
Katrina @ Pics, Pages & Purlshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02245863945689175120noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3587437700232781019.post-6965885425807508522012-03-19T23:03:00.000-04:002012-03-19T23:03:41.489-04:00Day 2...of chillin' with the kiddos!
I believe that we had a great day with playing inside, playing outside, feeling the wind, seeing the birds, seeing green life grow, watching a movie, smelling the rain fall (yes it has a smell), eating good meals, taking a bath and other stuff. EXCEPT take pictures.
So there are no pictures...sorry...
Monday came to me at 7 this morning...LOVELY kids! Thanks for sleeping in!!! YEAH!
Seeing that Aspen only took 1 nap yesterday she needed to take a morning nap and an afternoon nap. Zeke is enjoying playing, coloring and seeing how things work. He loves being outside and playing outside with dirt, sticks and enjoys to squish bugs. He stops and smells the flowers every chance he gets. We have also been working some school work (letters, numbers, colors, shapes, etc) since he is on spring break. I recently won a knitting pattern and I'm almost done with it...it has some sewing items on and that just takes some time. So hopefully I will get that done and get pictures taken and up on the blog here about the things I have done...seeing that I have been lacking on showing pictures of my "off the needles" projects.
Well...Richard I miss you and the kids miss you! Have fun working with the Dr. Dee's (there are two of them) and have a GREAT time finding us a place to live! MWAH! I love you!Katrina @ Pics, Pages & Purlshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02245863945689175120noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3587437700232781019.post-28938118933076529072012-03-18T16:28:00.000-04:002012-03-18T16:28:05.996-04:00Day 1 of...~ my last "solo" mama-hood of medical school. Meaning Rick left this morning for his last away rotation of medical school. Well technically he's going away on another rotation...however I'm 95% sure that the kids and I will be going with him.
So I'm hoping to get on the blog and say something about the day or something to that fact. :) Just so my husband knows that we are making it work with him finding a place for us to live when we get down in Florida.

Sunday...started off with dropping Rick off at the airport. Killed some time and then to the first service at the Gateway Church. Aspen hasn't been feeling well, so she got chill in the Ergo Carrier with me. :) Zeke had fun in his preschool class. Which was one of the reasons why I wanted to go to church. Zeke and I got to play outside and I got take some pictures and read...then inside for some sink time (meaning he plays in the water and washes his hands.) All of this Aspen is taking a nap...due to the face that she is getting over her illness. COMING up NEXT: Grocery shopping with 2 little kiddos! I have been making my list all day SO I'm very ready at least with my list.
